Heaven Can't Wait Any Longer

All she'd ever wanted was his love - but at what price?
Was their love worth the erasure of the world and all its stories?

Finally! After four amazing, heart-throbbing books, the Fallen series has come to an end. I admit, the first book did not make a very good impression to me. I was just attracted to the beautiful cover and the fallen-angel theme. Fortunately, a star-crossed love theme is a big plus for me, so I continued reading it. But when Torment came out, I fell head-over-heels with the series. Anyway, it took me some time to finish Rapture not because it was not good but because I was a little stressed and something sad came up. And if not for a certain bookstore which did not sell the hardbound until just recently, I could have finished this one earlier. Okay, I'll stop with this blabbering and just proceed about what I felt for this book. And for those who haven't read this, this is NOT going to be SPOILER FREE so read at your own risk.

They were already, instantly, in love.

Rapture by Lauren Kate is actually my most anticipated book for this year. This won't only answer all the questions I have for the series but it would also conclude Daniel and Lucinda's millennia of love and curse. This book also made me understand everything. Actually, I read the last two chapters of Passion first before I read the final book to refresh me especially about the curse.

The memory of witnessing their fall to Earth agonized Luce.
It was like watching all the stars fall out of the night sky.

More than half of the book focused on finding the artifacts. And I actually thought it was going to be like a mystery, thriller like Dan Brown books. LoL. Until more questions came up. The book was actually hinting that Luce's first existence and her first encounter with Daniel plays a vital role with what really happened and how they would be able to break the curse. What made me suspect that maybe Luce is not an ordinary human was when Daniel told her that she can control her feelings like when she says she's not hungry or not cold she will really feel like that. And when she was able to undo the knot made by the Scales, I was definitely sure there's more to Lucinda's true nature. And it was only when everyone especially Dee was insisting that Luce should remember everything so she can finally understand everything that I got the idea that there's a possibility that Lucinda herself is also a fallen angel! And voila! Lucinda was actually a Throne Archangel. And not only that, she's the angel who would actually tip the balance. I wasn't actually that surprised about that since I felt very excited and saw it coming already. But what took me by surprise a lot, and I do really mean a LOT is the fact that Lucinda was actually Lucifer's lover before. Honestly, I didn't see it coming. I was almost sure that Cam would be the third party but it came out that it was Lucifer. LoL. Now I understand why Lucifer said in Passion that they betrayed him and why he was so against Daniel and Luce.

"I'm Lucinda," she said. "I'm your angel."

I thought I wouldn't be crying in this book since I can already see a happy ending. But when Lucinda flew towards the falling angels to intercept Lucifer and saw Gabbe, and heard her think "Move on. Lucinda. Please move on. Dream what you already know," I started crying. And I cried harder when they said their goodbyes. I couldn't actually clearly read the last lines of Chapter 19 because of my tears.

"It isn't goodbye." He gave her one last angelic kiss and embraced her
so tightly she could hear his steady heartbeat, overlapping her own.
"It's until we meet again."

I read Chapter 20 with so much happiness. Because I know they're going to meet and fall in love all over again. And I actually felt pity towards the coin-toss guy because everyone would know it was actually Lucifer, who still love Lucinda. Anyway, I was smiling so much until I read the Epilogue's last paragraph which made my tears fall again. Aw, I really, really love the Fallen series. I love the ending so much. It wasn't actually happy OR/BUT heartbreaking nor sweet AND/OR sad. The ending was actually HAPPY and VERY SWEET! Well, it wasn't entirely happy and sweet in a sense since there were sacrifices like Gabbe and Molly and the fact that Daniel and Lucinda don't remember anything. It's somehow sad that they have forgotten about their angelic natures, all of their friends and all the love and hardships that they have gone through. But if you look at the bigger picture, they finally broke the curse and met again and got the chance to live and love normally. Have children and grow old loving one another forever. So that's what matters most. LoL, I'm actually crying right now. It really feels good to be able to finish a very good love story.

Then the angels, the demons, and the Nephilim flew off to distant corners of the sky,
leaving a moment's brilliant flash of light behind them, as below,
Luce and Daniel fell in love for the first - and the last - time.
